“In Antwerp, it was all about land monitoring!”
Above all, the focus was on the contribution of the Copernicus Land Monitoring Services (CLMS) to addressing global crises, and that is one of the reasons why we attended the first CLMS General Assembly in Antwerp.
“The planned Copernicus Land Data Store, a joint initiative of the JRC and the EEA, will simplify access to the data. At the same time, this immediate availability underscores the enormous importance of data validation!” said our Managing Director, Carsten Haub, commenting on one of the event’s outcomes.
On the topic of data validation, we presented our consortium project—aimed at establishing a cloud-based system for the robust validation of numerous European CLMS products—during the poster session. In this project, which we are leading, we are supported by JBA Consulting Ireland and COBA.
“The inspiring keynote address by Janez Potocnik, co-chair of the UNEP International Resource Panel, focused on the importance of resource monitoring. In doing so, he tied together all aspects of the event,” says Oliver Buck, our Head of Technology Management, summarizing his impressions after the second day.
Many thanks to the EEA for the great event!
