On 17 March, our Managing Director Olaf Büscher presented how EFTAS uses Earth observation to support digital twins of the landscape at the SustainableSolutionsMatch 2026. This Europe-wide online event brings together companies, researchers and innovators working on specific solutions for a sustainable and circular economy. In topic-specific pitch sessions and international B2B meetings, technologies were presented that can be put to immediate practical use.
In the session ‘From space to earth: satellite-based monitoring and space data services for a sustainable and secure planet’, Olaf Büscher provided a brief insight into how remote sensing data is used to precisely monitor environmental changes in forests at short intervals. “Satellite data for Earth observation is now so widely available that it would be almost negligent not to use it as a basis for sustainable spatial and environmental decisions,” he emphasises. “Digital twins make this information immediately usable for decision-makers. This is precisely where we at EFTAS make an important contribution: we feed digital twins with highly up-to-date remote sensing-based data.”
