Taking up the current discourse on EU agricultural policy, creating space for new ideas, and bringing together experts from across Europe— the 2024 ICE Conference in Rome succeeded in doing just that!

As a city of constant change, blending tradition and modernity, Rome provided an inspiring backdrop in late May for the “IACS Community Exchange” (ICE) conference, where participants discussed the impact of European agricultural policy and the future of the Integrated Administration and Control Systems (InVeKoS/IACS) under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

For many years, we have carried out remote sensing-based checks of agricultural subsidy areas for numerous German federal states. Since the latest CAP reform came into force, these services have also included continuous, year-round monitoring.

Personal contact with members of the IACS community and the network that has grown over many years form an important basis for fast and technically precise communication in these projects.

That is why our four-person team was on site to learn about the latest developments, challenges, and best practices in the area of InVeKoS/IACS. Key topics included the implementation of IACS, quality assessments in agricultural systems, and new data, methods, and tools in agricultural monitoring.

“The in-depth discussion has shown that our agricultural monitoring processes are well-equipped to meet the future requirements of the Common Agricultural Policy,” said Marco Lüth, who coordinates our Agricultural Subsidies and Monitoring business unit, expressing his satisfaction with the conference.

So, from a technical standpoint, the ICE 2024 was a complete success!
And beyond that, Rome is always worth a visit!
